Why Mercury is the most dangerous metal known in our environment but it is still allowed in our mouths. This is a serious research by The University of Calgary. http://commons.ucalgary.ca/mercury/ |
In physics, wave-particle duality holds that light and matter can exhibit properties of both waves and of particles. It is a central concept of quantum physics. Through the work of Albert Einstein, Louis de Broglie and many others, it is now established that small objects, such as atoms, have both wave and particle nature, and that quantum mechanics provides the over-arching theory resolving this apparent paradox. |
Originally broadcast on PBS, this science documentary from National Geographic investigates the miraculous machine that is the human body. Learn about the body's extraordinary capabilities through personal stories coupled with in-depth scientific explorations. Technological breakthroughs are shown concerning surgery, brain development, conception, and more. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide |
The 2003 BBC documentary "The World's First Time Machine", directed by Ben Bowie and featuring Ronald Mallett, premiered in the USA on The Learning Channel on December 3, 2003. This documentary features some of Dr. Mallett's current time travel research. It has since been shown numerous times on The Science Channel. |

Scientology customers, after they pay for and learn about Lord Xenu, flying saucers, UFOs, Tom Cruise, and Body Thetans (the spirits of murdered aliens from outer space that Scientology will scrape off the bodies of its customers for large sums of money), Scientology customers may then spend many hundreds of thousands of dollars more to purchase "Operating Thetan Level 8," which is sold to victims only on Scientology's ship "Freewinds." Victims are not told, however, that "Freewinds" is loaded with carcinogenic blue asbestos--- with the result that Scientologists who pay for OT8 run a massively greater risk of lung cancer than the rest of the human population. Since Scientology customers, staff members, and salespeople tend to either kill themselves or die of cancer, it has been speculated among the human rights community that the ship "Freewinds" is one large cause of so many deaths by cancer among Scientologists. For helping his daughters get out of Scientology, Lawrence was declared a "Suppressive Person" by Scientology in September 2000. All of his Scientology clients were ordered by Scientology to cease doing business with him in an attempt to destroy his architecture practice. There are currently about 52,000 Scientologists in the United States, and about another 20,000 Scientologists in the rest of the world. |
Drake equation From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Drake Equation) Jump to: navigation, search The Drake equation (also known as the Green Bank equation or the Sagan equation) is a famous result in the speculative fields of xenobiology, astrosociobiology and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. This equation was devised by Dr. Frank Drake (a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz) in the 1960s in an attempt to estimate the number of extraterrestrial civilizations in our galaxy with which we might come in contact. The main purpose of the equation is to allow scientists to quantify the uncertainty of the factors which determine the number of extraterrestrial civilizations. In recent years, the Rare Earth hypothesis, which posits that conditions for intelligent life are quite rare in the universe has been seen as a possible refutation of the equation. The Drake equation is closely related to the Fermi paradox. It was cited by Gene Roddenberry as supporting the multiplicity of starfaring civilizations shown in Star Trek, the television show he created. The Drake equation states that: where: N is the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which we might expect to be able to communicate at any given time and R* is the rate of star formation in our galaxy fp is the fraction of those stars which have planets |
String theory is radically changing our ideas about the nature of space, opening up the possibility that extra dimensions, rips in the fabric of space, and parallel universes actually exist. To see the full series go to: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html |
In order to solve some of the deepest mysteries of the universe, the rules that govern large objects like galaxies must be combined with the rules that govern small objects like subatomic particles. To see the full series go to: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html |
An Astronomy documentary concerning recent progress in observational cosmology. This movie presents the story of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey's mapping of the galaxy distribution. It starts at the 2.5m SDSS telescope at Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico flies through the nearest stars, the galaxies and quasars mapped by the Survey, and finally through the Cosmic Microwave Backround mapped by WMAP. Finally it returns to the control room at Apache Point. |
An Astronomy documentary concerning recent progress in observational cosmology. This movie presents the story of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey's mapping of the galaxy distribution. It flys you backward through over half a million galaxies and quasars mapped by the SDSS Survey, and finally through the Cosmic Microwave Backround mapped by NASA's WMAP satellite. Finally it returns to the control room at Apache Point Observatory. |
This movie explains the working of our senses in relation with our mind. |
